Project Watch — Metaverse Games 2
Nowhere else in the industry is the use case of NFTs already so integrated into a user’s experience than in gaming. That’s probably why crypto-gaming continues to gather momentum as the world gears up for the metaverse. The ability to monetize playing time has proved irresistible to players, as more and more gravitate into the crypto sphere. Today we’re going to be looking at a few exciting gaming projects that are proving the viability of this new area of the industry.
Sidus Heroes
First up, the highly anticipated Sidus Heroes. Sidus allows players to explore a fully immersive 3D futuristic world. They can challenge each other to duals in the Battle Arena or build legions of soldiers to conquer the Sidus universe. Heroes can explore the vast universe in their spaceships, and if they want, pillage the Galaxy as pirates. Alternatively, they can become builders or farmers and cultivate their own little corner of the universe. There is even a political angle to life in Sidus City allowing players to take part in political races to represent their faction.
This intriguing and multifaceted world will be powered by dual tokens, the SIDUS and SENATE token which will create a thriving economy allowing all these actions to be monetized. Every item from a gun, to a spaceship, all the way to a planet is an NFT tradable on the Sidus NFT MarketPlace. Sidus is a world built to make players interact with one another to succeed.
We tried out the Sidus Heroes demo, it is a fun preview into the rich universe that the team is creating. The demo is simple and straightforward, you are given a character, and that character explores an arena and lets you build another hero to fight alongside with. It’s a fun snippet of what’s to come. Project Oasis
Project Oasis on the other hand is a completely different gaming experience. Oasis is a one-of-a-kind 2D metaverse created as a homage to a time when games were light, easy, and fun. Built on BSC, everyone can come together to interact, play, compete, and grow together in a world free of judgement. Every blockchain wallet connected to the metaverse will generate a Native Avatar that’s unique in its own right. Natives can build in-game items that can then be traded using the $OASIS token which powers both utility and governance within the Oasis metaverse.
Oasis even has a feature called “Realms” that makes it possible to spread the Oasis metaverse across various blockchains creating a vibrant and flexible in-game economy. If you’re a fan of Stardew Valley or the original, SNES Harvest Moon franchise, you’ll love exploring Project OASIS.
Cryowar
Mobile games are one of the fastest growing sectors of the gaming industry and Cyrowar is a project that hopes to take advantage of this fact. Cryowar is a real-time, multiplayer, PvP arena game developed on Unreal Engine. Built on the Solana Network, battles are designed to take no more than 3 minutes making this an easy route into blockchain gaming for casual gamers. The game itself is set in a medieval world designed to grow into a multi-blockchain metaverse giving this project a huge space to expand into.
Cryowar is designed to be decentralized, featuring DAO voting, NFTs and decentralized finance. However, this is not a pay-to-win game and the only competitive advantage a player will have is their own skill.
Cornucopias — The Island Awaits
Cornucopias invites you to The Island, a 3D space that features a myriad mini-games designed to have mass appeal for every demographic. Players can explore the island and find games catering to casual gamers, hardcore RPG players, money incentivized players, NFT enthusiasts, professional gamers, story players, explorers, eSports players and strategy players. The Island will feature opportunities to play alone or with your friends or even to find a new team to play with. Every game on the island will feature some sort of play-to-earn mechanic built-in. However, this project also features educational centres that allow players to learn-to-earn and also allows players to design items that can then be mentored and sold as NFTs creating a build-to-earn mechanic.
Cornucopias, through their 3D Island world that links these different games, has created a truly immersive metaverse experience.
Lovelace
The final project on this is Lovelace, while not a gaming project in itself it provides the tools for gaming projects to build its own Metaverse. Everyone knows that developing metaverse projects can be difficult for traditional developers, even if youre a pro at AAA gaming development. The knowledge required to code and to market such projects are completely different to ones they might have experience in. Lovelace is designed to make getting involved in the metaverse much easier. Using Lovelace, people can develop or participate in NFT experiences, play-to-earn games, digital economies and worlds across Cardano and other chains using Lovelace’s metaverse-as-a-service tool kit. The toolkit features NFT marketplaces, smart contracts, play-to-earn gaming engines, partner integrations, and even a launchpad to raise awareness of any projects developed on Lovelace.
Lovelace is powered by the $LACE token that grants holders access to IDOs on the launchpad, is used for in-game transactions, and grants governance over the Lovelace project.
